The canvas depicts presented a glimpse of Palazzo Alvarez Toledo and the background Sant'Elmo Castle, which, built in 1329 by the will of Robert d'Anjou as a fortress town, contains the characteristic plant stellar. On the first floor, the entrance to the building where a guard will attend, accompanied by a dog. The canvas is signed by Vincenzo Abbati, father of the famous Joseph, whose artistic training, which began in Florence, is developed further in Venice where collects various committees by the Duchess of Barry. His paintings, mostly landscapes and interior night, but also scenes of genre and historical subjects, is characterized by acute effects of light and a good yield perspective that is appreciated by important works such as the grave monument of Don Pedro, the Choir Sant'Efremo of monks in the Cappella Minutolo, the Grotto of Posillipo.
